Michael Carrington was born in London where he finished high school. Then he moved to Czech republic where he received a degree in animation at Zlín University with his movie The Water Closed. In 1997-1998 he was an animator, artist and director in animation studio Ealing. After that he animated commercials. In the years 2002-2005 he was the leader of the program Poetry in Wood. Up to the year 2010 he was a head of the department of animation at Zlín University. He organizes various animation workshops at festivals. He was also a puppeteer in the fairytale Kovář z podlesí and he was the main animator of the movie Malá z rybárny.
